I initially dismissed this when I saw it in the search results. But subsequently freaked out a little when I found out the reality…
Yes, ketchup/catsup has vitamin K – here’s the breakdown:
- 1 cup/240 grams contains 6.7 mcg of vitamin K – that’s 8% of the Daily Value (DV)!
- 100 grams contains 2.8 mcg of vitamin K, or 3% DV
- 1 packet (6 grams) contains 0.2 mcg of vitamin K, which is considered negligible DV
This is a clear-cut case where it would be very easy to ingest enough ketchup to mess with your medication dose. How many use just one packet? Not me… But this woman’s love of ketchup would be too much.
