Oats: Overnight

Sleep while your oatmeal cooks in the fridge.

Health Information

Prerequisites

  • Airtight container: Canning jar (mason, glass clamp lid/hermetic)
  • Measuring cup(s)

Ingredients

  • Oats (rolled or steel cut): 1/3 cup (equal to 1 instant oats package)
  • Liquid:
    • Use water or any type of milk (IE: almond/soy/coconut) and/or cream, half and half, orange juice
    • 1:1 ratio for rolled, 1 : 1.5 for steel cut

Instructions

Food Preparation

  1. Add oats to container
  2. Add liquid

Cooking

  1. Place in the fridge for 3 hours minimum
  2. Add what you like:
    • ground seeds (flax, sunflower, pumpkin, hemp, chia)
    • nuts
    • fruit, including frozen
    • yogurt
    • honey, agave, maple syrup, jam
    • citrus zest
  3. Serve

Tips

  • Less liquid if you want thicker oatmeal, more water if you want runny oatmeal
