Fig Walnut Schmear

For baguette slices, crostini, or bagels.  The skin is edible, but this recipe doesn’t use it.

Health Information


  • Knife
  • Spoon
  • Cutting board
  • Food processor


  • Figs: 4, fresh
  • Walnuts: 0.25 cup, chopped
  • Cheese: 4 oz, Cream or Neufchatel


Food Preparation

  1. Cut the figs in half
  2. Use a spoon to scoop the fig innards into the food processor
  3. Add the walnuts to the food processor
  4. Add the cheese to the food processor
  5. Blend until mixed
  6. Refrigerate until ready to serve


  • Figs have a small window for being ripe.  Store in the fridge to delay ripening
  • Toast the walnuts
